Delete your Hometello account
The short version
- This page explains how to delete your account in Hometello: Home Care Plan, the app and website from Hometello.
- You can delete your account yourself any time in Settings. If you can't sign in, email support@hometello.com from the address on your account.
- If you're subscribed, deleting your account cancels your subscription first, so you aren't charged again.
Delete it in the app or on the website
- Sign in to Hometello in the app, or at https://hometello.com on the web.
- Open Settings, then Your account, and choose Delete account.
- If you're subscribed, choose when: at the end of the period you've paid for, and keep using Hometello until then; or now, which ends your subscription today with no refund for the rest of the period, except where required by law.
- Enter your password to confirm it's you, then confirm.
Forgot your password? Reset it from the sign-in page first, then come back to Settings.
If you can't sign in
Email support@hometello.com from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We'll send a one-time link to that address. Open it within 72 hours to confirm and choose when. To protect your account, we act only on a request confirmed from the address on the account.
If you're subscribed
Deleting your account cancels your subscription first, and we email you to confirm the same day. If you chose the end of your paid period, you can change your mind until then: choose Keep my account in Settings. Renewing your subscription before then also cancels the deletion.
What we delete
- your account and sign-in
- if you set up the home: the home and its plan, tasks, completion history and notes, including those household members recorded, plus appliances, devices, parts, invitations and calendar and report links. We email household members before this happens, unless their address can't receive email
- if you're a household member: your membership and your calendar link. The work you recorded stays in that home's history, shown as recorded by “A former member”
- the records of emails and phone alerts we sent you, your phones with alerts on, the billing records in our database, and your preview and sign-up records
What we keep, and for how long
We keep the following after your account is deleted. Our Privacy Policy at /privacy explains each one and how long we keep it.
- your email address on our do-not-send list, if an email to you bounced, you marked one as spam, or you asked us to stop emailing you, so that we don't email you again
- our record of your deletion request, which keeps your account ID and a hashed version of your email address. We also keep your email address with it until we've emailed you that the deletion is done, or tried 3 times
- audit records of staff activity, including any staff lookup of your account and the email address looked up
- the IDs and outcomes of payment events Stripe sent us
- shared manual search results and our shared manual library (maker manual links and the care items read from them), none of which are linked to your account
- completions and notes you recorded in someone else's home, which stay in that home's history, shown as recorded by “A former member”
- records we need to comply with the law, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, enforce our Terms, or meet tax and accounting requirements
- copies of our database we made before a change, until they're deleted, within 30 days of being made (see “Backups” above)
- your Stripe customer record, invoices and the agreement records saved with your subscription, which Stripe keeps so we can show what you agreed to and meet tax and accounting rules. We ask Stripe to remove saved payment cards from that customer record. Payments go through Stripe's Link, so a card you saved in your own Link account stays there until you remove it in Link, and you can ask Link to delete your information
- copies others hold under their own retention rules: Stripe, Resend, Supabase, Lovable, Cloudflare and our other providers; calendar services that have already fetched your calendar link; and anyone who saved a report or calendar link you shared
How long: staff audit records are kept permanently, and our record of your request, the do-not-send list and the payment event IDs have no set end date. Our database host doesn't keep backups on our current plan, and copies of our database we make before a change are deleted within 30 days. Stripe and our other providers keep their copies for the periods their own policies set.
How long it takes
If you're not subscribed, or you choose now, we delete your account right away. If you chose the end of your paid period, we delete it then. We email you when it's done. Our database host doesn't keep backups on our current plan. A copy of our database we made before a change can still hold your information until it's deleted, within 30 days of being made. Stripe keeps its own payment records, and a card you saved in your own Link account stays there until you remove it in Link. You can also ask Link to delete your information.
