Hometello

Privacy Policy

Effective October 17, 2026 · Version 2026-10-18

The short version

  • This is a short summary of our Privacy Policy. It isn't complete, and if anything here seems different from the full policy below, the full policy controls.
  • We collect what we need to run your home-care plan: your email address, your answers about your home, your plan and the work you record, and any notes, devices and parts you add. We don't ask for your home's street address, your precise location or your contacts. Stripe collects your payment details, and we never see your full card number.
  • We don't sell your personal information or use it for advertising, and Hometello has no ads. Optional analytics are off unless you turn them on in , at the bottom of every page: our own preview measurement, and visit and error reports from our hosting provider, Lovable (see “Optional analytics”).
  • Some information is visible to other people by design. Your household sees the plan, the history, the notes and who did what. Anyone with a report or calendar link you create can see what that link shows.
  • Companies that help run Hometello include Supabase, Lovable (which hosts our site on Cloudflare's network), Stripe, Resend, Firecrawl, OpenAI (through Lovable) and, if you turn on phone alerts, Google. When we read an appliance manual for you, we send only product details and the manual's text, not your name or account.
  • If you turn on preview measurement, your preview answers are stored under a random ID and are linked to your account when you save your home, and deleted if you delete your account. We also measure whether Hometello helps subscribers. We analyze each paying household's records, and we report only totals. You can ask us to leave your household out.
  • You can see and fix most of your information in the app, and download a copy of it or delete your account in Settings. To correct anything else, or if you can't sign in, email support@hometello.com. If you're subscribed, deleting your account cancels your subscription first so you aren't charged again. We keep some records after deletion for legal, billing, security and audit reasons.
  • Hometello is only for adults 18 and older who live in the United States.

About this policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Hometello (“we,” “us” or “our”) collects, uses, shares and keeps personal information when you use Hometello. Hometello includes our website, web app, emails, shared report and calendar links, and related services (together, the “Service”). This policy is effective as of October 17, 2026.

Hometello is offered only to people who live in the United States, are 18 or older, and use it for their own home in the United States. It isn't for children.

“Personal information” means information that identifies you or your household, relates to you, or could reasonably be linked to you.

This policy covers visitors to our website, people who try a preview, account holders, household members, people we invite on an owner's behalf, and people who open a shared report or calendar link. It doesn't cover websites and services that others run and that you reach through Hometello, such as Stripe's checkout and billing pages, your calendar app, or manufacturer and store websites. Their own privacy policies apply.

This policy describes our practices. It's a notice, not a contract, and it doesn't create contractual rights or obligations. If you've agreed to our Terms of Service (/terms), for example when you created an account or subscribed, the Terms govern your use of the Service, including how disputes are resolved.

Information we collect

What we collect depends on how you use Hometello. It comes from four sources: you, other people, your use of the Service, and the companies that help us run Hometello.

Information you give us:

  • Account information: your email address and password. Your browser sends your password directly to our sign-in provider, Supabase, which stores only a scrambled (hashed) version of it in our database. We never receive or keep your password in readable form.
  • Display name: an optional name of up to 60 characters that your household sees. It can be any name you like. If you join someone else's home, you'll be asked for one.
  • Preview and eligibility answers: whether your home is a detached house that you own and live in, whether you bought it roughly 1 to 6 months ago, whether you're the person mainly responsible for its upkeep, and whether you already have an established home-care routine. These answers show that you own your home and roughly when you bought it. The preview also records the categories and routines you choose and whether you confirm yard work.
  • Home details: your yes, no or “not sure” answers about equipment and safety features in your home, such as smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, a fire extinguisher, a sump pump, a fireplace or gutters. Also whether you're in the Northern or Southern Hemisphere, so that seasonal suggestions match your seasons.
  • Plan activity: the tasks and routines on your plan, planned dates, how often you choose to do each routine, pauses, and which checklist steps you show or hide. Also the dates you record work as done, any corrections, and optional notes of up to 200 characters.
  • Appliances, devices and parts: if you add them, device types, brands, models, links to manuals, part names and numbers, how many spares you have, and links to stores where you buy parts.
  • Invitations: if you own a home on Hometello and invite someone, the email address you enter for them.
  • Settings and choices: for example, whether you get reminder emails or phone alerts, whether you create calendar or report links, whether you approve a support access request, and your choices (kept in your browser).
  • Agreement records: when you create an account, which versions of our Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy were in effect when you agreed, and when. When you subscribe, which version of our Terms you agreed to and that you agreed to automatic renewal.
  • Where you signed up and subscribed: when you create an account or start a subscription, whether you did it on our website, our Android app or our iPhone app. We use this only to understand how people find and use Hometello. It never changes your price or access, and it isn't linked to a device identifier.
  • Messages to us: if you email us, your email address, your message and our reply.

Information other people give us about you:

  • Household members: people in your home's household can record work and add notes. The plan shows who recorded each completion by display name, and a note may mention you.
  • Invitations: if a home's owner invites you, they give us your email address so we can send you the invitation. If you join, you give us a display name, and the owner can see your email address and display name.

Information created when you use the Service:

  • Account records: when you created your account and whether you've confirmed your email address.
  • Sign-in session: tokens saved in your browser that keep you signed in (see “Cookies and browser storage”).
  • Random browser identifier: only if you turn on preview measurement in , your browser creates a random ID and saves it. Your browser sends this ID to our servers, which store only a hashed version of it.
  • Preview and sign-up records, only if you turn on preview measurement: which preview steps you viewed and completed, and when; your answers; the preview's outcome and, if your home isn't a fit, the reason. Also whether a preview was shown or corrected, when you started signing up, when your records were linked to your account, and whether checkout was blocked. We also record your device type (phone, tablet or desktop), based on your screen width.
  • Email records: which weekly and seasonal emails we sent to a home's owner, which tasks a weekly email covered (or how many jobs a seasonal email listed), when we sent it, and whether our email provider accepted it, rejected it or didn't confirm. We don't keep a separate record of each copy sent to household members. Separately, our do-not-send list records addresses that bounced, were marked as spam, or that we were asked to stop emailing.
  • Usage counts: how many times a week a calendar link is fetched (our app doesn't store the IP address, device details or time of day of each fetch, though our hosting provider's logs may), and how many automatic manual searches your home runs each day.
  • Staff access records: when our staff look up your account or view your plan, we record who did it, when, on what basis and, where one is required, why.
  • Technical information: when your browser connects to the Service, our hosting provider (Lovable, which runs our site on Cloudflare's network) and our sign-in provider (Supabase) receive your IP address, your browser type and the details of the request, and they may keep these in their logs. Our servers also log error details, which end up in those logs. We use IP addresses briefly, in memory, to limit how often previews can be requested, but we don't store them in our app database. Your browser sends its time zone so we can work out today's date for you. We don't store it, except for a phone you set up for alerts.
  • Visit and error information, only if you turn on site analytics: analytics and error-reporting scripts that our hosting provider adds to our pages collect information about your visit, as described in “Optional analytics.”
  • Phone alerts: if phone alerts are offered and you turn them on for a device, we keep that device's notification token, its time zone, a simple label (such as “iPhone”) and a record of the alerts we send it.
  • Operational records: records that stop the same action from being recorded twice, and which seasonal suggestions you dismissed.

Information from companies that help us run Hometello:

  • Stripe: when you subscribe, Stripe gives us your Stripe customer ID, subscription status, billing period dates, whether your subscription is set to cancel, and invoice details such as the amount paid, the currency and the price. Stripe's messages to our servers can also include the name, email address and billing address you gave Stripe. We don't save those in our app database. People who manage our Stripe account can see your Stripe customer record, including your name, email address, billing address and your card's brand, last four digits and expiry date, but not your full card number.
  • Supabase: whether you've confirmed your email address, and your sign-in session.
  • Resend: notices that an email to you bounced or was marked as spam.
  • Google Firebase: if you turn on phone alerts, the notification token issued for your device.
  • Firecrawl and our AI provider: manual links and care suggestions for the products you add. This is information about products, not about you.

Information we don't collect

Hometello is designed to work without information it doesn't need. We don't ask for or collect:

  • your phone number, or your legal name (a display name is optional and can be any name; Stripe asks for the name on your card when you pay)
  • your home's street address or ZIP code (Stripe may ask for your billing ZIP code or address on its payment page)
  • your precise location (seasonal timing uses only the hemisphere setting)
  • your full card or bank account numbers (you enter payment details on Stripe's pages, and Stripe keeps them)
  • your phone or email contacts (if you invite someone, you type their address yourself)
  • your date of birth, government ID numbers, health or biometric information, or financial account details

We use your email address and password only to sign you in and keep your account secure, never to infer anything about you. Please don't put sensitive information about yourself or anyone else, such as health or financial details, in notes, names or other text fields.

Preview answers and product measurement

Preview answers: you can try a preview of your plan before you create an account. The preview questions are optional, but we can't build a preview without your answers. We use them to build your preview, and your browser keeps them until you save your home or 72 hours pass. We store your answers and the steps you complete only if you turn on preview measurement in , which is off unless you turn it on. If you do, we store them under the random browser identifier described above, not under your name or email address. Before you create an account, these records don't tell us who you are on their own.

If preview measurement is on when you create an account and save your home, we link your preview answers, preview step records and sign-up records to your account. From then on, they're connected to you. If your account is deleted, we delete them too.

Turning preview measurement off: when you turn it off in , we delete the preview, preview step and sign-up records stored under your browser's random ID, including any link to your account, and then remove the ID from your browser. We do the same if your browser still has an ID from a visit before we asked for your choice.

Shared browsers: while preview measurement is on, your browser keeps the random ID, even after you sign out or your account is deleted. If anyone later uses the preview or saves a home in that browser, their records are stored under the same ID. If that ID is already linked to an account, their preview records are linked to that account too. Your choices also apply to anyone else who uses that browser. On a shared device, turn preview measurement off in after you sign out.

We use these records to see where people get stuck, which answers lead to which results, why some homes aren't a fit yet, and which routines people choose. We analyze these records ourselves, using our own database.

Measuring whether Hometello helps: we measure whether Hometello helps its early subscribers keep up with home care. Right now, every household that starts a paid subscription is included automatically. When your household's first paid period starts, we record that date and the categories of tasks on your plan (such as maintenance, housekeeping or yard). We then analyze your plan's completion records and billing history to measure things like whether households stay subscribed and keep recording work over their first 90 days.

We analyze each included household's records, and we report the results only as totals and rates across households. We don't publish or sell results about individual households.

If you don't want your household included, email support@hometello.com with the subject “Leave me out of measurement.” We'll remove your household from this measurement, though totals we've already calculated may still include it. Leaving out doesn't change how the Service works for you.

How we use information

We use personal information to:

  • provide the Service: build and update your plan, decide which tasks apply to your home, schedule tasks, record completions, and show your history to you and your household
  • run your account: sign you in, confirm your email address, reset your password and keep your account secure
  • send reminders and notices: weekly and seasonal reminder emails, household invitations, support access requests, emergency access notices, notices about changes to this policy, and phone alerts if you turn them on
  • handle billing: start and manage your subscription through Stripe, decide whether your home has paid access, show the price you pay, keep a record of what you agreed to, and prevent duplicate charges
  • find manuals and suggest care items for the appliances and devices you add, and help you find replacement parts (see “Manual lookups and automated suggestions”)
  • create the links you ask for, such as home history reports and calendar links
  • help you when you ask for support, including viewing your plan if you grant access
  • measure and improve Hometello, as described in “Preview answers and product measurement”
  • understand how our pages are used and fix errors, using the analytics and error reports our hosting provider collects, if you turn on site analytics
  • keep email working: stop reminders when you unsubscribe, and stop sending to addresses that bounce or are marked as spam
  • protect the Service and the people who use it: limit how often certain features can be used, check that messages from our payment and email providers are genuine, investigate security problems, and keep audit records of staff access
  • comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our Terms, and protect our rights and the rights, property and safety of others

We don't use your personal information for advertising, and we don't use it to train AI models.

Automatic decisions: some features work automatically, by fixed rules, without a person reviewing each result. Your eligibility answers decide whether you can save a plan and subscribe. If they show Hometello isn't a fit for your home yet, you can't continue. Your home details decide which maintenance tasks appear on your plan. A task is added only when your answers show it applies, so answering “Not sure” leaves related tasks off your plan. For example, if you answer “No” or “Not sure” about smoke or carbon monoxide alarms, checks for those alarms aren't added. Your plan isn't a complete list of the care your home needs. Your billing records decide whether your home has paid access, and your settings decide whether you get reminders. If you think a result is wrong, check and change your answers in the app where you can, or contact us.

Manual lookups and automated suggestions

If you own a home on a paid plan and you add an appliance or device, Hometello tries to find the manufacturer's manual and suggest care items from it. Here's how that works:

  • Finding the manual: after you save a device with its brand and model, we send the device type, brand and model to Firecrawl, a web search and page-reading service, to look for the owner's manual. We keep only links to manufacturer websites.
  • Reading the manual: when you confirm a manual link, Firecrawl retrieves that page or PDF. We send up to about 60,000 characters of the manual's text, with the device type, brand and model, to an AI model made by OpenAI. The request goes through Lovable's AI gateway. The AI model picks out care items the manual describes, such as how often to do them and which part numbers they need, and writes the suggestions. No one at Hometello reviews them.
  • Finding parts: when you save a part number with a brand, we send the brand and part number to Firecrawl to look for the manufacturer's page for that part.
  • What we don't send: we don't send your name, email address, account ID, home details or plan to Firecrawl or the AI provider.
  • Shared results: we save manual links and suggestions by device type, brand and model, and we may show them to other households who add the same product. If you paste a link to your manual on a manufacturer's website, we may also offer that link to other households with the same product. Shared results aren't linked to your name or account.
  • Your choice: suggestions are labeled in the app “From your manual, not reviewed by Hometello.” Nothing is added to your plan unless you choose to add it. Suggestions can be wrong or incomplete, so check them against your manual. Our Terms of Service explain more.

When we send a request to the AI model, we turn off the option to store it for later retrieval. Firecrawl, Lovable and OpenAI may still keep limited records under their own terms, for example for security or abuse monitoring.

How we share information

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only as described below.

Companies that help us run Hometello: other companies help us provide the Service. We aim to give each one only the information it needs for its job. Their own terms and privacy policies also govern how they handle it. Our current providers are:

  • Supabase, our database and sign-in provider. It stores the account and plan information described in this policy, sends account emails such as email confirmation and password reset, and runs scheduled jobs. Your browser connects to Supabase directly when you sign in and while you stay signed in, so Supabase receives your IP address and browser information.
  • Lovable, the platform we use to build and host the Service, which runs our site on Cloudflare's network. Lovable and Cloudflare handle every request to our site, including your IP address, and keep server logs, which can include error details. Lovable's connector gateway passes our emails to Resend and our requests to Firecrawl, and, if phone alerts are on, our alerts to Google Firebase, so Lovable handles the content of those messages. Lovable's AI gateway passes our manual-reading requests to OpenAI. If you turn on site analytics, Lovable's own analytics and error-reporting scripts also run on our pages (see “Optional analytics”).
  • Resend, which sends every email our app sends (account emails come from Supabase). It receives the recipient's address, the subject and the content of each email, such as task names, dates, part names and links. It also tells us about bounces and spam complaints.
  • Stripe, which processes subscriptions and payments. We send Stripe your Hometello account ID, the subscription you're buying, the version of our Terms you agreed to and that you agreed to automatic renewal. Stripe collects your email address, card details and billing information from you directly on its own pages and handles them under its own privacy policy. Stripe may also send you receipts or payment emails.
  • Firecrawl, which searches the web and reads manufacturer pages for appliances, devices and parts, as described above. It receives product information, not information about you.
  • OpenAI (through Lovable's AI gateway), whose model reads manual text to suggest care items, as described above. It receives product information and manual text, not information about you.
  • Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, which delivers phone alerts, but only if phone alerts are offered and you turn them on. It receives your device's notification token and the alert text (task names).

Other companies that receive information when you use Hometello:

  • Stripe, on its own checkout and billing pages, where it sets its own cookies and collects device and browser information, including to prevent fraud across the businesses it serves, under its own policies.
  • The calendar service you choose, if you add a calendar link (see below).
  • Your browser's push service, if you turn on phone alerts. It delivers each alert to your device.

Your household: if you're part of a household on Hometello:

  • Everyone in the household can see the home's plan, home details, tasks and schedules, completion history, notes, appliances, devices, parts and store links, and whether the plan is active.
  • Each completion shows the display name of the person who recorded it. If the home's owner hasn't set a display name, we show the part of the owner's email address before the “@” to members and in invitation emails.
  • The owner can see members' email addresses and display names, and the email addresses on pending invitations. Members see other members' display names, not their email addresses.
  • When an owner invites someone, we email that person an invitation that shows the owner's display name (or their email prefix, as described above).

People you share links with: some features create private links. Anyone who has the link can see what it shows without signing in:

  • Home history report: device types, brands, models and manual links; task names and how often each is done; when each task was last done and how many times; and parts. It doesn't include notes, members' names or email addresses. It may include work recorded by other household members. A report link works for up to 30 days. It stops sooner if you turn it off or if the home's paid access ends.
  • Calendar link: task names and planned dates. The calendar service you add it to (such as Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook) fetches the link regularly and keeps copies under its own terms. Turning off or replacing the link stops future updates, but it doesn't remove copies already in a calendar.

Anyone you give a link to can copy, save, print or forward what they see. Share links only with people you trust. We can't recall copies made before a link stops working. Report pages never run site analytics, so a report's private code isn't sent to our hosting provider's analytics (see “Optional analytics”). Like every page address, it does appear in our hosting provider's server logs.

Our support staff: to help with support and billing, our staff can see some basic account information without asking you. This includes your email address, when you created your account, whether your email is confirmed, whether you own a home or are a member of one, your subscription status, whether it's set to cancel, your paid-through date and whether your home has paid access, your Stripe customer ID, whether reminders are on, the result and time of your latest reminder email, whether your address is on our do-not-send list, and whether you've granted support access. Staff who handle email delivery can also see recent records of reminder emails, including recipient addresses, and our do-not-send list. Staff who use our support tools must use two-step sign-in, and those tools log each account lookup.

Through our support tools, staff can see your plan's contents (such as task names, dates, frequencies and completion history) in only two ways:

  • With your permission: support can ask to view your plan. You get an email with the reason, and you can approve read-only access for up to 72 hours. You can revoke it at any time. Only the home's owner can approve.
  • Emergency access: in urgent situations, such as investigating a security issue or a serious problem with the Service, a senior administrator can open your plan read-only without asking first. It lasts up to 60 minutes, requires a written reason and is logged. We email the home's owner, with the reason, when it starts. If that email can't be sent, for example because the address is on our do-not-send list, the access still appears under “Access to your plan.”

The owner can see recent support and emergency views of the plan (the latest 50), along with support requests, grants and emergency access, under “Access to your plan” in the app. Copies of your information are made only by you, in Settings or from a link we email to the address on your account, and our staff don't see them.

Our technical administrators: the people who maintain our systems have direct technical access to our database and to the copies of it we make before changes, which hold the information in our database described in this policy, and to our accounts with the companies that help us run Hometello, such as Stripe and Resend. They use that access only as needed to run, secure, back up and repair the Service. This kind of access isn't listed under “Access to your plan” or recorded in our support tools' logs.

Legal and safety reasons: we may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it's needed to comply with the law, a court order, a subpoena or other legal process; to respond to lawful requests from government authorities; to enforce our Terms; to detect, prevent or address fraud, security or technical problems; or to protect the rights, property or safety of Hometello, the people who use Hometello, or the public.

Business transfers: if we're involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or part of our business or assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We'll require the recipient to handle the information it receives in line with this policy, unless you agree to something else.

At your direction: we share information when you ask us to, for example when you invite someone or create a link.

Combined or de-identified information: we may share information that has been combined or de-identified so it can't reasonably be linked to you, such as measurement totals. We won't try to re-identify it, except as the law allows.

No selling and no ads

  • We don't sell personal information.
  • We don't share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we don't use it for targeted advertising. Hometello has no ads.
  • We don't use advertising pixels, tag managers, session recording or device fingerprinting. Site analytics from our hosting provider run only if you turn them on, as described in the next section.
  • Our emails don't contain tracking pixels, and their links go straight to where they point. We don't track whether you open our emails or click their links.
  • Links to stores, manufacturers and part searches are plain links. We don't add tracking or affiliate codes to them, and we aren't paid when you use them.

Optional analytics

Hometello has two kinds of optional measurement. Both are off unless you turn them on in , at the bottom of every page, and you can turn each one on or off at any time. Your choice applies to the browser you make it in. We keep it in that browser for 12 months, then ask again.

  • Preview measurement: our own measurement of the preview and sign-up, described in “Preview answers and product measurement.” These records stay in our own database.
  • Site analytics and error reports: scripts that our hosting provider, Lovable, adds to our pages. Until you turn this on, our pages stop these scripts from running, block what they would send and refuse their cookie.

If you turn on site analytics, these scripts send Lovable:

  • the full address of the page. Site analytics never runs on a page whose address holds a private code (report, invitation, support access and password-reset pages, and pages opened from a sign-in or email link) or on the next page you open from one, so those codes aren't sent
  • the page you came from, and any campaign tags or ad-click codes in the link you followed
  • your browser type and language, and your approximate country, estimated from your device's time zone
  • page-speed measurements, visit and page-view identifiers, and details of errors on the page, such as the error message, a technical trace and the page's path

Lovable also receives your IP address. The analytics script sets a cookie named “session-id” that expires after 30 minutes. Lovable's script includes a session-recording feature. It isn't turned on for our site, and our pages block it even if you turn on site analytics. Lovable handles this information under its own terms. We don't use it for advertising.

To stop site analytics, turn it off in . The page reloads so the scripts stop, and the “session-id” cookie is removed. Information already sent stays with Lovable under its own terms.

Cookies and browser storage

Our own code doesn't set cookies. These cookies can be set on hometello.com by others:

  • “__cf_bm”, set by Cloudflare, the network our hosting provider uses, to tell people apart from automated bots. It's used for security, expires after about 30 minutes, and is always on because the Service needs it.
  • “session-id”, set by Lovable's analytics script to group the pages you view in a visit, only if you turn on site analytics. It expires after 30 minutes.

Hometello also saves a few items in your browser's local storage. The Service needs these, so they're always on:

  • An item whose name starts with “sb-” and ends with “-auth-token” keeps you signed in. It holds your sign-in tokens and basic account details, such as your account ID and email address. Signing out removes it, and you need it to sign in.
  • “hometello.previewDraft” holds your preview answers so they aren't lost while you confirm your email address. It contains no name, email address or street address. It's deleted once it's saved to your account, or after 72 hours.
  • “ht.return” holds the page to return to after you sign in, such as an invitation or a “Mark done” link. It's removed as soon as it's used.
  • “hometello.consent” remembers your choices and when you made them. After 12 months we ask again. In our Android app, “hometello.consent.android” keeps the app's own choices, separate from your browser's.

Only if you turn on preview measurement, Hometello also saves “hometello.participant” (“hometello.participant.android” in our Android app), the random browser identifier used for preview and sign-up measurement. It stays while preview measurement is on, including after you sign out. When you turn preview measurement off, we delete the records stored under it and then remove it.

Your browser's session storage also keeps your scroll position on pages you've visited and, in our Android app, “hometello.app”, which notes that the page is open in the app. It's cleared when you close the tab.

If you turn on phone alerts, your browser also stores data for Google Firebase in its built-in databases. It also registers a small background script (a “service worker”) that shows alerts and opens Hometello when you tap one. These stay until you clear your browser's site data.

When you're signed in, Hometello saves a copy of what your Plan and My home pages show in your browser's built-in database, and replaces it each time your plan loads with a connection, so you can read those pages offline. It includes things like task names, steps, dates, parts and appliance details. It doesn't include completion notes, household members' names or billing details, and it isn't sent to us or anyone else. On hometello.com, Hometello also registers a small background script (a “service worker”) that keeps the app's own files, such as its code, fonts and pictures, so these pages open offline. It stores no personal information. The copy is deleted when you sign out on that device, when another account signs in there, or when you clear your browser's site data, so sign out when you're done on a shared device. The Service needs these to work offline, so they're always on.

If you use our Android app, it shows our website through your phone's browser (usually Chrome). It shares that browser's sign-in, cookies and saved data for hometello.com, so signing in or out in one does the same in the other. Your choices in the app are kept separately from the browser's. If you turn on phone alerts in the app, they appear as notifications from the app. The app itself saves only whether it has opened with a connection before.

If you use our iPhone app, it shows our website in the app and works the same way, with a few additions. It keeps your sign-in in your iPhone's keychain, shared only with the app's widget, and saves only your account's ID (“hometello.app.uid”) in the app's own storage, so your saved plan can open without a connection. The widget keeps the titles and planned dates of your next three tasks on your iPhone so it can show them. Both are deleted when you sign out. If you turn on phone alerts in the app, Apple's push service and Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging deliver them, and we store a delivery token for that iPhone with your account; turning alerts off, signing out or deleting your account removes it. The app doesn't offer the website's optional site analytics. It doesn't ask for your camera, photos, location, contacts or microphone, doesn't read advertising identifiers, and doesn't track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout and billing pages, under its own policies.

You can clear cookies and local storage in your browser's settings, usually by clearing site data. If you do, you'll be signed out, you'll lose any preview you haven't saved and the copy of your plan saved for offline reading, and we'll ask for your choices again. Clearing site data removes the random browser identifier without deleting the records stored under it, so turn preview measurement off first if you want those deleted.

If we start using cookies or similar technologies for other purposes, we'll update this policy first.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Some browsers can send a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal or a “Do Not Track” signal. If your browser sends either one, we keep all optional measurement off in that browser: preview measurement and site analytics stay off, and shows that we applied the signal. We also treat a GPC signal as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising, which we don't do.

If you turn on site analytics, Lovable receives information about your visits through the analytics and error-reporting scripts it adds to our pages. Because Lovable also serves many other websites, it may be able to collect information about your activities over time and across different websites, and it handles that information under its own policies. Lovable and Cloudflare also handle every request to our site, as described in “How we share information.” We don't put advertising or ad-measurement tools on our site.

Emails and notifications

We send these emails:

  • Account emails, such as email confirmation and password reset. Supabase sends these for us.
  • Weekly reminders: a summary of home-care tasks that are due, with links to your plan. A household gets at most one a week, and only while the home has paid access. They're on by default for the home's owner. Household members get a copy only if they turn it on.
  • Seasonal check-ups: at most one a season, sent in the first week of the season. They list seasonal jobs that fit your home and go to the same people as weekly reminders.
  • Invitations, sent to people a home's owner invites.
  • Support and security notices: requests from our support staff to view your plan, and notices that we used emergency access.
  • Legal notices, such as notice of a material change to this policy or our Terms.
  • Payment emails: depending on our Stripe settings, Stripe may send you receipts or payment notices directly.

To stop reminder emails, use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any reminder email, or turn reminders off in Settings. Unsubscribing stops both weekly reminders and seasonal check-ups. If the home's owner turns reminders off, they stop for the whole household, members included. You'll still get account, support, security and legal notices, because they're about your account and its security.

If someone has invited you and you don't want invitations from Hometello, email support@hometello.com and we'll add your address to our do-not-send list. When our email provider tells us that an email to you bounced or was marked as spam, we stop sending to that address.

We don't send marketing emails today. If we start, we'll send them only as the law allows, and each one will include a way to opt out.

Phone alerts: if phone alerts are offered and you turn them on, you'll get short alerts with task names between 8 and 10 a.m. in your device's time zone, after the matching reminder email is sent. To stop them, remove the device in Settings or turn off notifications for Hometello in your browser or phone.

How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, unless the law requires or allows us to keep it longer. Specifically:

  • Account and plan information (home details, tasks, completions, notes and settings): while your account exists. We don't delete it automatically when you cancel or stop using Hometello. After a subscription ends, you can still view your history, but you can't change it.
  • Appliances, devices and parts: until you delete them or your account is deleted.
  • Corrected or voided completions: we keep these, marked as corrected or voided, along with any note.
  • Preview answers and preview step records: deleted after 13 months by a daily cleanup, and when the account they're linked to is deleted.
  • Sign-up records: deleted after 25 months by a daily cleanup. The record of your browser's random ID, and any account it's linked to, is deleted once it's more than 25 months old and nothing is stored under it. All of these are deleted when the account they're linked to is deleted.
  • Preview measurement records for a browser: deleted, along with the random ID, when preview measurement is turned off in that browser.
  • Agreement records: kept with your account. The copy saved with your Stripe subscription stays with Stripe, including after your account is deleted, so we can show what you agreed to.
  • Invitations: an invitation link works for up to 7 days. The record of the invitation, including the invited email address, is kept until the home or the inviting owner's account is deleted.
  • Report and calendar links: a report link works for up to 30 days, and a calendar link works until you turn it off or replace it. Records of old links, and weekly calendar fetch counts, are kept until the home or account is deleted.
  • Email records: records of weekly and seasonal emails we sent are kept until the account they were sent to is deleted. Unsubscribe links in our emails don't expire. “Mark done” links expire after 7 days.
  • Do-not-send list: addresses on it are kept with no set end date, so that we don't email them again.
  • Phone alert records: we keep device records until you remove the device or it stops being valid, and alert records until your account is deleted.
  • Billing records in our database: until your account is deleted, except the IDs and outcomes of payment events Stripe sent us, which we keep. Stripe keeps its own records under its own policies.
  • Support access records: support requests, grants, emergency access and records of staff views of your plan are kept until the home is deleted.
  • Requests for a copy of your information or to delete your account: kept, with your account ID and a hashed version of your email address. For a deletion, we also keep your email address until we've emailed you that the deletion is done, or tried 3 times.
  • Staff audit records: kept permanently. They're set up so they can't be changed or deleted.
  • Browser storage and cookies: as described in “Cookies and browser storage.”
  • Server logs, sign-in logs, and any analytics and error reports our hosting provider collected while site analytics was on: for the periods those providers set.
  • Backups: on our current plan, our database host doesn't keep backup copies of our database. Before we change the structure of our database, we make a copy of it ourselves. These copies leave out passwords, are stored encrypted and are deleted within 30 days. Information in a copy stays there until the copy is deleted, even after it has been deleted from the Service.

What we keep after your account is deleted: when we delete your account, we delete your account information. If you own a home, we also delete the home and its plan. We keep the following, and the law may require or allow us to keep other records too:

  • your email address on our do-not-send list, if an email to you bounced, you marked one as spam, or you asked us to stop emailing you, so that we don't email you again
  • our record of your deletion request, which keeps your account ID and a hashed version of your email address. We also keep your email address with it until we've emailed you that the deletion is done, or tried 3 times
  • audit records of staff activity, including any staff lookup of your account and the email address looked up
  • the IDs and outcomes of payment events Stripe sent us
  • shared manual search results and our shared manual library (maker manual links and the care items read from them), none of which are linked to your account
  • completions and notes you recorded in someone else's home, which stay in that home's history, shown as recorded by “A former member”
  • records we need to comply with the law, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, enforce our Terms, or meet tax and accounting requirements
  • copies of our database we made before a change, until they're deleted, within 30 days of being made (see “Backups” above)
  • your Stripe customer record, invoices and the agreement records saved with your subscription, which Stripe keeps so we can show what you agreed to and meet tax and accounting rules. We ask Stripe to remove saved payment cards from that customer record. Payments go through Stripe's Link, so a card you saved in your own Link account stays there until you remove it in Link, and you can ask Link to delete your information
  • copies others hold under their own retention rules: Stripe, Resend, Supabase, Lovable, Cloudflare and our other providers; calendar services that have already fetched your calendar link; and anyone who saved a report or calendar link you shared

Your choices and rights

In the app: you can see most of your information in the app at any time. Everyone can:

  • change your display name
  • correct the date of the latest completion on a task, or void it, if you recorded it
  • change your password through the password reset process
  • turn your own reminder emails and phone alerts on or off
  • turn preview measurement and site analytics on or off in , at the bottom of every page
  • turn off or replace your calendar link
  • leave a household, if you're a member

If you own the home, you can also:

  • correct home details and the hemisphere setting
  • change routine frequencies and dates, and pause routines
  • correct the date of the latest completion on any task, or void it
  • edit or delete devices, and clear appliance and part details
  • turn reminder emails off for the whole household
  • turn off a report link
  • cancel invitations and remove members
  • revoke a support access grant
  • manage or cancel your subscription through Stripe's billing portal

Some things can't be changed in the app yet, including your email address, notes you've already saved, and completions older than the latest one on a task. To change these, email us.

In Settings: open Settings, then Your account, to download a copy of your personal information in a common machine-readable format (JSON), or to delete your account. The copy includes the information linked to your account. It leaves out secret codes, such as link and delivery codes, and a household member's copy leaves out other people's notes and email addresses. Our page at /delete-account explains what deleting your account removes and what we keep.

By request: you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of your personal information or delete your account, if you can't sign in
  • correct information you can't correct in the app
  • delete specific information, such as a note, or leave your household out of product measurement

Email support@hometello.com and tell us what you'd like. If you have an account, write from the email address on it. For a copy or a deletion, we'll send a one-time link to that address to confirm. If you don't have an account, tell us which email address or link your request is about. These options are open to everyone who uses Hometello in the United States, whether or not a state privacy law applies to you or to us.

If you turned on preview measurement without an account, your preview records are stored under a random ID kept in your browser (as “hometello.participant”). To delete them, turn preview measurement off in in that browser. Otherwise we may not be able to find them unless you create an account and save your home, or tell us that ID.

Verifying your request: to protect you, we'll check that a request is genuine before we act on it. In Settings, we ask you to enter your password again before you delete your account, and before you download a copy unless you signed in within the last 10 minutes. If you email us about your account, we send a one-time link to the email address on the account, and we act on a copy or a deletion only once it's confirmed there. For other requests, we may ask you to confirm through that address or to answer questions about your account. If you don't have an account, we may ask for information that shows the request relates to you, such as confirmation from the email address involved. We'll use the information you give us for verification only to verify and respond to your request. If we can't verify a request, we may decline it.

Authorized agents: where state law allows, someone else can make a request for you. We may ask for your signed permission, and ask you to confirm your identity and the request directly with us.

Timing: we aim to respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we'll tell you why, and we may take up to 45 more days.

Deleting your account while subscribed: deleting your account cancels your subscription first, if you haven't already canceled it, so you aren't charged again, and we email you to confirm the cancellation. You choose when we delete it: when the period you've paid for ends, and you can keep using Hometello until then; or now, which ends your subscription that day. There are no refunds or credits for partial periods, except where required by law. Until a deletion at the end of your paid period happens, you can choose Keep my account in Settings, and renewing your subscription cancels the deletion. Our Terms of Service explain cancellation and billing.

When your account is deleted: we'll tell you by email when it's done, unless your address can't receive email, for example because an email to it bounced. Deleting your account is permanent and can't be undone.

How your household is affected:

  • If a home's owner deletes their account, the whole home is deleted, including completions and notes recorded by household members. Members keep their own accounts but lose access to that home. We email each member before the home is deleted, unless their address can't receive email.
  • If a member deletes their account or leaves the household, the completions and notes they recorded stay in the home's history, shown as recorded by “A former member.” Their calendar link stops working right away.
  • When you ask for a copy of your information, we give you the information about you. To protect other people's privacy, we may leave out information about them. For example, a member's copy includes the completions that member recorded.
  • Only the home's owner can change home details or approve support access.

If we say no: if we decline your request, we'll explain why. You can appeal by emailing support@hometello.com with “Privacy appeal” in the subject line, and we'll respond in writing within 60 days. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact your state's attorney general.

No discrimination: we won't deny you the Service, charge you a different price or give you a lower level of service because you used a privacy right. Some requests, like deleting your account, mean we can no longer provide the Service to you.

We may decline a request where the law allows, for example if it's excessive or we can't verify it. We don't charge for requests unless the law allows us to.

Additional information for residents of certain states

Several U.S. states, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others, have privacy laws that give their residents rights over their personal information. Whether one of these laws applies depends on things like where you live and the size of our business. We offer the rights in “Your choices and rights” to everyone in the United States. If a state law applies to you, you can also use the rights it gives you. These may include the right to know or access, correct and delete your personal information, to get a portable copy, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising and certain profiling.

We don't sell or share personal information or use it for targeted advertising. We don't use it for profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. So there's nothing for you to opt out of. We use your account login only to sign you in and keep your account secure.

Here are the categories of personal information we collect, and the categories of recipients we disclose each one to:

  • Identifiers: email address, display name, account ID, random browser identifier (stored hashed, only with preview measurement), Stripe customer ID, phone alert device token (if used) and IP address. Disclosed to: Supabase; Lovable and Cloudflare; Resend (email addresses, and display names in invitations); Stripe (account ID and Stripe customer ID; Stripe collects your email address from you directly); Google (the device token through Firebase, if you use phone alerts).
  • Customer records: email address, display name, subscription and payment records (not full card numbers), the billing name, email and address held in our Stripe account, and agreement records. Disclosed to: Supabase; Lovable and Cloudflare; Stripe; Resend (email addresses).
  • Commercial information: subscription history and prices paid, and the appliances, devices and parts you record. Disclosed to: Supabase; Lovable and Cloudflare; Stripe (subscription and payment history); Resend (part names in reminder emails).
  • Internet or other electronic network activity: preview and sign-up step records (only with preview measurement), email records, calendar link fetch counts, staff access records, server logs, and visit and error information collected by our hosting provider (only with site analytics). Disclosed to: Supabase; Lovable and Cloudflare.
  • Approximate location: hemisphere setting, time zone (for phone alerts), country estimated from your device's time zone (only with site analytics), and IP address. We don't collect precise geolocation. Disclosed to: Supabase; Lovable and Cloudflare.
  • Home and household information: eligibility answers (including that you own your home and roughly when you bought it), home details, your plan, completion history and notes. Disclosed to: Supabase; Lovable and Cloudflare; Resend (task names in emails); Google Firebase (task names in phone alerts, if used); and calendar services you choose (task names and dates).
  • Inferences: which tasks apply to your home, based on your answers. We don't build profiles to predict your preferences or characteristics. Disclosed to: Supabase; Lovable and Cloudflare.
  • Account login: your email address and password, which Supabase stores only as a one-way hash. Disclosed to: Supabase.

Firecrawl and OpenAI receive product details and manual text, which we don't link to you when we send them. We also disclose information to household members and to people you share links with, as described in “How we share information.”

We collect these categories from the sources described in “Information we collect,” use them for the purposes in “How we use information,” and keep them as described in “How long we keep information.” We don't sell any category or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

California “Shine the Light”: we don't share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing.

Nevada: we don't sell covered information, as Nevada law defines it.

To make a request under any state law, use the methods in “Your choices and rights.”

How we protect information

We use administrative, technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. They include:

  • database access rules that let each signed-in person read only their own household's records. Browsers can't change your plan data directly; every change goes through our servers, which check who you are and what you're allowed to do
  • a confirmed email address before you can use your account
  • two-step sign-in for staff who use our support tools, permission-based staff access to plan contents, and staff audit records that are set up so they can't be changed or deleted
  • long, hard-to-guess codes in invitation, calendar and report links. We store only hashed versions of them, and report links expire
  • signed links in our emails. “Mark done” links expire after 7 days and only open your plan so you can confirm; nothing is recorded until you do
  • payment details kept with Stripe, and checks that messages from Stripe and our email provider are genuine before we act on them
  • encrypted (HTTPS) connections for our website at hometello.com and when our servers send information to the companies that help us run Hometello
  • limits on how often certain features can be used, to prevent abuse
  • security tests, which we run after database changes, that check one household can't read another household's records

No way of storing or sending information is completely secure, and we can't guarantee the security of your information. You can help protect your account by using a strong, unique password, signing out on shared devices, and sharing report and calendar links only with people you trust.

If we learn of a security breach affecting your personal information, we'll notify you and others as the law requires.

Children

Hometello is for adults 18 and older. It isn't directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Household members must also be 18 or older, so if you invite someone, make sure they're an adult. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us at support@hometello.com and we'll take steps to delete it.

Users outside the United States

Hometello is offered only to residents of the United States for homes in the United States. We don't offer it to people in other countries. If we learn that an account belongs to someone outside the United States, we may close it and delete its information. We process and store information in the United States and in other countries where the companies that help us run Hometello operate. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information will be processed under U.S. law, which may protect it less than the law where you are.

Other websites and services

Hometello links to websites we don't control, such as manufacturer and store websites, sources cited in task guidance, and web searches for parts. Nothing is sent to those sites until you click a link. We set these links so your browser doesn't tell the site which Hometello page you came from. Once you leave Hometello, the other site's privacy policy applies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll post the new version with a new effective date. We'll tell you about a material change at least 30 days before it takes effect, by email to the address on your account and with a notice in the Service, unless the law requires the change sooner.

Before we use personal information we already have in a way that's materially different from what this policy said when we collected it, we'll ask for your consent.

We keep earlier versions of this policy, and we'll send you one if you ask.
